Barabara, Jeremy, Becky (not pictured!) and I have decided to tackle the FWB beast!!! We are committing to 9 blocks a month. Here we gooooo!!!
Well, I have started TWO new ventures this summer and both are working amazingly well TOGETHER! First, I have began doing a mobile massage business. I come to YOUR house when it’s convenient for YOU to give you a luxurious and relaxing 1 hour massage. I bring my table, clean sheets, oils, incense, and relaxing music. I am trained in Swedish, deep tissue, and basic shiatsu techniques and have been doing this on the side for family and friends since 2000. I charge $40/hour and will do back to back massages for you and 1 other person (husband, friend, mom). I also do gift certificates w/ a receipt.
The other thing I started doing is being a consultant for Arbonne skincare, makeup, and health and wellness products. It’s vegan, all natural, and absolutely works. I can give you a sample of the #1 skincare line on the market called RE9 or a sample of just one of their many health and wellness drinks- the chocolate protein shake (my favorite). I love using Arbonne on my massage clients as they also sell massage oils and who doesn’t enjoy a facial when they’re pampering their entire body?
Last thing, I have two new classes to add to my summer schedule at Calico Mermaid in Porterville, CA.
Merry Christmas Wallhanging Wednesday, July 10 & 17 (2days) 5 – 8
Spring Garden Wallhanging Wednesday, July 10 & 17 (2 days) 10 – 4
If you and a friend sign up for a class, you will both receive $5 off the class fee!
I hope you’re having a wonderful summer and doing what you love. I know I am, and I feel so very blessed!
I’m so pleased to announce that I am teaching quilting classes at Thimble Towne and Calico Mermaid this summer!
This above quilt is “Technique Sampler” and will be offered in Porterville in July. It is 3 Saturdays- July 6, 13, & 20 from 10-6! We will go over a LOT of techniques such as Y-seams, hand and machine applique, paper piecing, half square triangles, and template making. If you’d like to practice these skills, then come join me in Calico Mermaid. The 3 day class is $50.
I am teaching “Candy Wrappers” as a 2 day class in Visalia from 10-2 on Tuesday, July 23 & Aug. 6th. The blocks are simply adorable with a dimensional ruffle “wrapper” and tiny bows. I had so much fun making mine and would love to share what I know. This class is $35.
Thanks for stopping by!
I decided to create art journals and during my voracious consumption of tutorials via Pinterest ( I mean, who isn’t addicted to it?) I came across two lovely creatures named Jane Davenport and Teesha Moore. I could just tell from Jane’s YouTube channel that she was a force to be reckoned with….. and well, Teesha’s collage journaling is just awesome. I totally wanted to be in this art journal world…. and then I stumbled upon “Mermaid Circus” the online class devoted to drawing mermaids with a circus flair. I had to, simply HAD to be a part of this experience.
It has changed my world. It just has, and I LOVE it so dearly and completely and wholly.
I loved reading the feedback from the judge. She was spot-on with her comments and very encouraging. She said the following about my paper-pieced “Mariner’s Compass” wallhanging: “Grayed tones in pieced elements are well chosen and provide small variations in value. Good quilting stitch. Mitered borders are well done.” I really appreciate that last comment about the mitered borders because I did them twice! The extra effort and time payed off and was noticed! = )
“Whimsical design well created with bright colors of fabric. Good choice of binding fabric.”
“Complementary red and green values are well chosen. Pieced elements move eye around quilt well. Generally good machine quilting. Excellent binding technique.”
“Overall design well balanced. Good color choices throughout. Needle & thread quilting motif is appropriate for sampler quilt. Good machine quilting. Good binding technique.”
“Tie dyed velveteen in flowers and variegated threads creates a 60′s feel. Sari silk threads well used as flower centers. Machine applique neatly done. Excellent binding technique.”
“Combination of embellishments, lace, and unusual fabric is very original. Appliques are secure. Irregular shape of quilting is perceived to be purposeful. Variety of stitching techniques adds to mysterious theme of quilt.”
“Looks good enough to eat! Great fabric choices for wrappers. Good piecing technique. Lovely full binding!”
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the comments and feedback. I need to improve my machine quilting stitch lengths and a few other areas that need improvement. But it was a great feeling to have so many quilts accepted and hanging in the show!
